Dental implants

What are implants and how do they work?

We all lose teeth. This happens for various reasons, because of neglect, illness, accident or natural wear and tear. Not only our esthetics and well-being suffer from it, but most of all, the comfort, effectiveness of chewing and health. For centuries, mankind has been looking for solutions that would replace the missing teeth. In imitation of natural teeth, modern dentistry has developed a permanently fixed dentures in the mouth. This way of supplementing, however, requires an adequate number of so-called pillarso teeth. In cases of partial or total edentulism there were still no adequate solutions. Thus, years of research and exploration resulted in the concept of intraosseous titanium implants, named implants. They act as substitutes for roots of missing teeth, on which, with the help of ceramic crowns or bridges, a single tooth or all groups of them can be restored.

There is no need to replace all the lacks with titanium implant, the stability of the denture may be gained even on two only.

How long does the implant treatment last?

Every case is different and therefore an individual approach and solutions are applied. With the development of science and medicine the time parameters of treatment are changing. Under appropriate conditions, using a suitable implant structure and surface one can have implants and their prosthetic filling implemented within one day. A similar procedure is also possible without a surgical incision, see NobleGuide ™ Teeth in an hour ™. Sometimes the teeth reconstruction process on implants can take up to nine months, respectively, for the upper jaw 4-6 months after insertion of the implant and the lower jaw 1-3 months. It is worth being patient – implant treatment success rate is about 97% and reaching the comfort and aesthetics can not be compared to any other solution which eliminates teeth gaps.

Can anyone undergo the implant treatment?

This is decided by the doctor. Each eager patient has to undergo non-invasive diagnostic tests and interview, on the basis of which the dentist determines the possibility and nature of the treatment. The patient is subjected to appropriate preparation before the surgery and taken care of afterwards. In certain disease states, such as diabetes, osteoporosis, cardiovascular and joints disease, you should take extra effort, but these conditions do not completely exclude taking the advantage of the implants. However, smokers should prepare specially for the surgery, namely, they should abandon the addiction and after about 6 months of abstinence, consult the doctor to discuss the possible implantation. In the case of smoking tobacco, healing implants goes worse and the risk of rejection increases. Sometimes it happens that the pacient has an insufficient amount of their own bones to implant an implant. Today, this is not much of a problem, the solution is the guided bone regeneration. It involves supplementing the missing bone tissue with special biomaterial. This solution accelerates and improves the results. The implementation of the implants is possible during or after the regeneration process, it depends on the individual case and the course of treatment.

Diagnostic tests of the types: radiovisiography, pantomography or CT, needed in implantology and bone regeneration are conducted with the usage of the most up-to-date equipment in the Podkarpacie region. For most people, the implant treatment is feasible.

Can an implant be implanted immediately after tooth extraction?

It is possible when the patient has the appropriate anatomic and tissue conditions. This solution is fairly radical, so the decision whether to implement requires an experienced dentist, engaged in implantology. Previous experience of leading implant centers and the successes of the Estetika Dental Clinic in this field allow to recommend this method.

What is the durability of implants? Do you need to replace them?

The implants have been implanted in the world for nearly 50 years, the first four were transplanted by a Swedish scientist prof. Per-Ingvar Branemark, known as the father of implant dentistry. It was in 1965, and the titanium implants implanted by him hold and are fully functioning till today. It can therefore be safely said that, with proper planning and conducting the treatment by a doctor, implants may serve the patients for their lifetime. Patient’s cooperation, which includes careful oral hygiene, regular periodical checks and following all recommendations of your dentist, is invaluable. The Estetika Dental Clinic uses the Noble Biocare ™ implants and MIS ™, having all possible international and national certificates.
